2010 has been a good one for William Henry, certainly a year of transition and growth.In June I completed a buyout of my silent partner and WH co-founder, finally taking full ownership of this brand and business that I’ve built from the ground up.A week later I stopped smoking – I leave it to wiser folks than me to figure out if there is a connection.
Since then I have been digging deep into my work, taking the time to reconnect with my original vision and passion, and I have been using that early blueprint as a lens thru which I view this company now.Needless to say, I have learned a lot and have a renewed sense of optimism and possibility as we head into 2011 and beyond.
I first started making knives because I recognized and fell in love with what they could be; a knife (and hand tools in general) can embody a rare and remarkable combination of form and function, art and utility, and they are a technology that never becomes obsolete.We will always need good tools, tools that enable our real lives in the physical world.I am proud to do that work, and honored to have found so many kindred spirits who also understand the enduring value and satisfaction that comes from having the best tool for the job.
William Henry is about building tools that make your life a little better in ways that will always count – tools that will be as relevant in 300 years as they are today.I look forward to continuing that tradition and enjoying the ride.
