September 2008

Hello from the William Henry Studio!  We’ve had a busy 2008 so far, and below you will find some of the high points and latest developments…

Awards
At the Blade Show 2008, William Henry won two coveted industry awards:

American Made Knife of the Year – Model B6 Ventana
•    This bold new pattern is elegant and compact, the thinnest and lightest knife in the William Henry line-up.  The first prototype, shown here in titanium, abalone, and Typhoon damascus, was recognized as the American Made Knife of the Year by the knife industry.  This version, and others, will be shipping in November of 2008.

Investor/Collector Knife of the Year – Model B11 Tapestry
•    A striking version of our Persian folder, this beautiful 25 piece limited edition featured black lip pearl set into a heat-colored mosaic damascus frame, with Hornet’s Nest damascus and rubies.  As of this newsletter, we are sold out on this exclusive pattern – there may still be a few available thru our authorized retailers.

Niche Awards
•    William Henry was a finalist in forged metal in the prestigious Niche awards, a category we won in 2007.  These awards cover the finest of the craft world, and to be among the finalists is a great honor.

Couture Awards
•    We now proudly exhibit at the Couture Jewelry Show, and this year we were selected as a finalist in the Haute Couture category, a showcase for the finest and most exotic pieces from the world’s foremost jewelry collections.  Our gorgeous engraved pocket knife, with a retail price around $5,000.00, lost out to a piece of jewelry priced at over $60,000.00.  So, we didn’t feel too bad, and were honored to be among the finalists from over 70 entries in the category.

New Products – Pocket Knives
William Henry has expanded it’s collection of pocket knives with the award-winning B6 Ventana, available in late 2008.  More information on this striking new gent’s folder coming soon – first on our website and later in our 2009 catalog.

New Products – Writing Instruments

Building on the resounding success of our first launch of writing instruments in 2007, William Henry has now designed and is building two new models of elegant pens – the RB6 Merlot and the RB7 Pinot.  These new patterns are complex and feature a range of the exotic metals and natural material that are a hallmark of our pocket knives.
Each piece is made by hand, from materials selected by Matt Conable, in the new pen shop at the William Henry Studio.  Like our cutlery, these heirloom-grade writing instruments are distinctive in their materials, design, and craftsmanship.
We offer these pens only in limited editions, and they are currently available on a very limited basis thru our authorized dealers.  Visit our website to learn more about these latest creations that seamlessly blend art and utility, translating superlative function into superlative art.

We head into the 4th quarter of 2008 with great faith that, regardless of the economic tides, our continuing dedication to producing the finest tools we can imagine will create real value that people can appreciate and enjoy.  Thank you for your continued support of the studio!
